BD Has Always Been Theater
1mind gives the pipeline a face, and the face was always the point.
BD has always been theater. An avatar performing sincerity is just the honest version of "I just wanted to reach out personally." The AI BD assistant category is still forming.
1mind is an agentic avatar BD assistant. You give it a face, a voice, a name — something like "Alexis from Growth" — and it goes out and does business development. Fully autonomous. No human behind the curtain watching the chat window, agonizing over whether to follow up again.
The avatar part is doing real work here. Not because it fools anyone — it probably doesn't — but because business development has always been a performance of sincerity, and a face is how you perform sincerity. "I just wanted to reach out personally." The avatar is just the honest version of that sentence.
What's clarifying about 1mind is that it makes legible something the industry spent years pretending wasn't true: the relationship was never the point. The pipeline was the point. The relationship was a technique for filling the pipeline, and techniques can be automated.
The jobs that go first are always the ones that were already secretly mechanical — just mechanical in a way that required a human to hold the performance together. BD was that. Wearing the costume of warmth to move leads through a funnel, measuring everything, optimizing the sequence.
Give it to the agent. The agent doesn't mind.
What's left to figure out is whether the person on the other end notices, and whether they care. My guess, based on how people respond to LinkedIn messages now: they already don't.
