Anthropic left $50 in the usage tab of every Claude account, without announcement, which is the correct way to leave money somewhere.
The $50 was in the usage tab. Not advertised anywhere — just sitting there, applied to every Claude API account I own. Multiple accounts. Same amount. No email, no banner, no announcement. Just a number that wasn't there before.
The correct move is to not think about why and spend it on something you'd have paid for anyway. The moment you start investigating, it stops being found money and becomes a research project, and research projects don't feel like finding a twenty in a coat you haven't worn since November.
Retention play, quiet pricing change, billing department had a moment of generosity — doesn't matter. The number says $50.00 and it wasn't there last week.
Fifty dollars of API credits does not go into a savings account.
