I Said Watch Where It's Going

Last week I wrote about Dispatch - Felix Rieseberg's feature for sending Claude a task from your phone and coming back to finished work - and I called it a component in a control plane that nobody was announcing out loud. Persistent agent, remote addressing, execution layer already in place. The one missing piece was that the desktop had to be on. I called that a countdown.

Yesterday, Anthropic shipped mouse, keyboard, and screen control. Full computer use, inside Claude for Desktop, working with both Cowork and Claude Code Desktop. You can hand Claude a legacy app and tell it to automate every button. You can have it debug a native app while you're across town.

The caveat this time is that it moves slowly - "slower than a human does today," per Felix. Deliberate. Careful.

That is the same sentence structure as last week's caveat. It sounds like a limitation. It is a countdown.

This is how the stack gets assembled - not in one announcement, not with a grand unified vision keynote, but in sequential bolts, each one accompanied by a reassuring note about how early things are and how carefully the system moves. The carefulness is real. The direction is also real.

Dispatch addressed the agent. Computer use gave the agent hands. The desktop still has to be on, the movement is still slow, and there is still a human in the approval loop - for now, in the ways that matter, at the speed that makes people comfortable.

I don't know what the next bolt is. But I know the shape it'll fit into.
